How To Improve Your Training!

Few tips to help improve your training…

❌ You are not training timing, you are training movement.

Shadowboxing and bag work alone won’t build timing.

You need a live, unpredictable target to react to.

Without that, you are just rehearsing movement in a vacuum.

❌ You are skipping reaction drills.

If your training doesn’t include specific timing drills, catching jabs, slipping on cue, countering off a padholder’s signal, your brain never learns to fire at the right moment.

❌ You are sparring too hard to learn.

When the intensity is too high, you stop learning and start surviving.

You can’t develop timing when you are in panic mode.

Controlled, technical sparring is where timing is actually built.

✅ The Fix:

Train timing like a skill, not a side effect.

🥊 Padwork:

Tell your padholder to throw back.
React, slip, counter.

Don’t just hit pads, respond to them.

🥊 Reaction drills:

Partner holds a pad or glove, you slip or counter only when they move. No movement, no reaction.

🥊 Slow sparring:

Drop the intensity to 30-40%.

Focus purely on reading your opponent and finding the right moment to strike.

🥊 Catching drills:

Partner throws slow jabs, you catch, parry, or slip every single one.

Wire the reflex.

Timing is a weapon.

Sharpen it deliberately.
