15 Foods Every Trainer Should Avoid!

Some foods don’t belong in a trainers diet.

Not because they are unhealthy in general.

But because they actively work against performance and recovery for someone training at high frequency.

Here are 15 foods every trainer should avoid:

1 – Energy drinks as a pre workout. Sugar crash mid session. Zero nutritional value.

2 – Alcohol during camp. Disrupts sleep, slows repair and dehydrates you. Even once or twice a week sets you back.

3 – Heavily processed meats. High sodium. Low quality protein. Swap for real cuts.

4 – Fizzy drinks. Bloating, blood sugar spikes and crashes. None of it belongs in a trainer’s diet.

5 – Deep fried food before training. Slow to digest. Sits heavy. Kills your output.

6 – Cheap protein bars with sugar alcohols. Sorbitol and maltitol cause serious gut issues mid session.

7 – Large amounts of white bread before training. Spikes and crashes too fast to be a reliable carb source.

8 – Flavoured yoghurts. Often as much sugar as a dessert. Use plain Greek yoghurt instead.

9 – High sugar cereals. If it’s above 10g sugar per 100g it’s not trainers fuel.

10 – Fast food regularly. High sodium, high fat, low quality protein. Occasional is fine. Regular is not.

11 – Inflammatory cooking oils. Swap vegetable and sunflower oil for olive oil or butter.

12 – Low fat products. Usually high sugar to compensate. Whole food fats are better.

13 – Meal replacement shakes as meals. Not enough calories or carbs. A supplement is not a meal.

14 – Heavily salted snacks in fight week. Sodium holds water. Cut them from day one of trainers week.

15 – Anything new on training day. Never experiment. Eat what you trained on.

Cut these out and your training, recovery and body composition all improve.

Train well by eating well…
